Abortion - Introduction

02.1.08

So for the month of February I am going to be making several post related to abortion. There are a total of 12 post.  Please keep the discussion cival, comments will be 100% moderated during this time, there will be one post every two days.

There are two issues that really separate the Christian right from the democrats, because in the grand scheme of things I think their financial and social polices would fly with most of the Christian right, but their stances on two issues force them to vote predominately Republican.  Abortion and homosexuality.  Now Homosexuality is mainly a religious issue.  Without "God created man and women" there is not as much need for this debate, I still think the social and health reasons are enough in the homosexual debate... they are not, however as overwhelming as the non-religious debate that can be made against abortion.  Abortion is an issue about murder vs. "a choice".

I've been touched by abortion.  Had a person, whom I won't identify, who was close to me get an abortion when I was roughly 10 or so years old.  I remember thinking then that it was wrong.  I was not a religious person until I was 19.  I went to church a few times as a child, but I was a non-Christian.  I just looked at the fact that abortion is killing a baby.

Then came my conversion and maturity as a believer, that I saw even more reasons to believe that abortion is wrong.  But for the most part I am going to leave the religious part out of this discussion (it will come out, but not be a focus) because this discussion can be had outside the Bible.

I want to take a moment to address certain segments of my potential audience.

Pro-abortion - never had one though.
This series is for you.  This series will touch on the debate about whether the child is a baby or not.

Pro-life.
This series will give you a reason for belief.
Pro-abortion - touched by one, but never had one.
Understand this.  I feel really bad for the women you know that had this.  Maybe this will help them... chances are they struggle with this more then you can imagine.  I don't condemn them... in a lot of ways I don't blame the vast majority of folks that have an abortion.  I think, and as the video's featured in this series alludes to, the truth has been hid from us.  While it is not an hard truth to find (especially in today's day and age), it isn't one that people are shown very readily by abortion clinics.

Pro-life - touched by an abortion.
Don't be a fool.  Love the person you know.  Don't condemn.  If you're Christian, offer the hope that we can offer a fallen world.  Go in with the understanding that the person probably hasn't been given the full message about what they have participated in.

Pro-abortion - had one.
If you actually take the time to read each and every post I make and it hurts you to your core, don't beat yourself up.  Seek counseling.  If you're mad at me... honestly not worth talking to me about it.  If we actually know each other, probably not wise for either of us to continue this discussion face to face.  I'll still be the same me you know before this series, and since you know me you probably know my Christian beliefs, so you probably understood my stance to begin with.

Buckle up, because this will be rough.  Some of my post will make you sick to your stomach.
