In The End…

Woke up this morning and went to my grandpa's house. He is 80 years old and his second wife (not my grandmother) died a few months ago. As he has finished much of his initial grieving I was asked to help him by removing some of his wifes material belongings. I only touched the tip of the ice burg but still filled half of my empty van with her belongings. I took it to her church and it will be rummaged through by the other ladies of the church and then discarded to the trash or Goodwill.

She lived a long life and gathered a lot of material belongings. But in the end she couldn't take them with her. In the end it will be rummaged through and then discarded.

So why do we have such a desire for gathering stuff when, in the end it doesn't go with us.

Matthew 6
19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
