I've always been pro-life, this 12 13 part study has done nothing but increase my thoughts on it.

If a fetus is a child, then abortion is murder.  It doesn't matter the reason for the abortion... if its a child then its murder.  PERIOD.

This is why the Christian right can't support the democrats... and frankly this is a challenge for me.  I hope my one (and he is the only one that I truly know) liberal Christian friend reads this blog will chime in here... but I really struggle with why any professing Christian would support any democrat.  I can actually understand a person not voting Republican on the basis of war, the death penalty, and their social stances on welfare and such.  I can actually understand that fully... and if not for abortion and homosexual activism (drop it Roland, its real and to say otherwise makes you look foolish) coming from the democrats... its likely that would be where I'd lean politically.  However I can't fathom supporting a candidate that supports killing 1.2 million babies YEARLY (and remember thats a good year).  At the end of the day this is THE issue for me come election time.

The conversations on this were not what I expected.  I really expected somebody to chime in and try to defend this horrible practice.  But showing early what a 'mass of tissue' looked like must have squelched that conversation.

Fitting close to this, an article that showed up on DrudgeReport on Sunday.

Abortion - America's Signature Judgment

Read an interesting blog the other day and it relates heavily to the series of post on Abortion I've been making so I've added it to my thread on abortion.  This could have easily been titled, Abortion - The Consequences.

So here it is word for word... for my fellow readers who know where the shift key is... sorry for the casing, not my post :-).

==== Begin Post ====

i was reading something by David Wilkerson this week about signature judgments. in the Bible, there are several times when an individual or a nation faced what some might call an ironic twist of fate. Wilkerson says it is more than irony: it is a signature judgment.

examples abound: Jezebel, Asa, and other leaders. Egypt, whose ten plagues were direct attacks against their most important gods ("you like frogs, do you?"). Israel, whose leaders claimed "the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord," has lost the Temple. and so forth.

if God is ready to judge America, what would be our signature judgment?

how about this one: we just experienced the 35th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. in 1973 the Supreme Court ruled in favor of abortion on demand, discovering in our Constitution a right to privacy, which apparently permits a mother to kill her unborn baby in the interest of her own privacy. since that day 35 years ago, we have killed 60 million of our own offspring in the name of personal rights.

a signature judgment on this cheap view of human life would be this: after fifty years (in 2023), the children who were NOT aborted will find it inconvenient and expensive to keep their elderly parents alive, and so will pass a law permitting children, in the name of right to privacy, to make a personal decision to euthanize their parents, with or without the parents' permission.

that same year, Social Insecurity will go bankrupt, and the elderly will find that the work force was 60 million workers short of keeping the economy solvent. with too many on the receiving end and not enough contributing into the pot, the system goes belly up, and the murdering generation is left destitute.

that same year, America is overrun with a superior military force. it seems we have too few soldiers to match other countries' forces, because we killed them before they were born. what soldiers we have were over-matched physically, because of a weakened gene pool--seems we spent too much time living in hedonism while pregnant, while other countries who lived disciplined lives outstripped us man-for-man. in addition, we lost our technological edge because of our reliance on a welfare state rather than advancing in math and science like the rest of the world. beyond all that, very few young people could be found who believed that anything was worth living for, much more worth dying for, so we handed over the country without a fight. our own government had long ago taken weapons from the hands of the citizenry, and so our nation stood defenseless against those who were more driven.

somewhere back in the 60s, we decided that the Bible was wrong when it says that an increasing population makes a nation strong, and that a decreasing population is a nation's downfall. we gave it the name of Planned Parenthood, but what we meant was Planned Self-Destruction. i think it will work just fine.

Abortion – The fix

When I was going through my presidential candidates one of the things I really liked about John McCain was he not only gave a pro-life stance, but even gave a fix for it. Here are some things we need to do to fix this issue.  And while this is not all encompassing, it is a start.

1. Make adoption easier and cheaper.  Truth is, it is fairly easy and cheap... but it isn't well publicized as such.  There is a system called, foster to adopt.  Where you take some classes and the state will pay for all your expenses when you adopt.  However one of the big issues here is that there are a lot of false positives, a family is given a child that they will adopt... that in the end gets pulled out to be reunited with some aspect of the child's family.  Lets straiten that mess out and make it easier.

2. Educate the mom's that are having these abortions.  There are pregnancy crisis centers that are allowing women to come in for free to get new 3D sonogram's.  No more fuzzy images, actual pictures of their 'mass of tissue', and the VAST majority of people that are planning an abortion, but do this first decide to keep the child.

3. Improve the resources that are available to women that have unexpected pregnencies.  As I said in my first post on this I think that if you removed this issue and the homosexual agenda, you'd be able to get the increase in government aid past the country.  But when you have democrats crying that we need x program and y program, but then saying that abortion and homosexual marriage is ok they are shooting themselves in the foot.  They force the vast majority of people like me to float to the right of the political spectrum... people like me that would probably be willing to pay a bit more tax to responsibly help people in need (which is a Biblical requirement).

Abortion is a social issue, and it will take social fixes to correct it.  But it is a political issue, because crime is a political issue... and frankly thats what I see abortion as, a crime.

Abortion - A Choice

I am pro-choice.  I am, really, really am.  I think a women should have a right to choose whether to have sex.  I think a women should have a right to choose whether to use protection (which will prevent the vast majority of unwanted pregnancies).  I think a women should have the right to use the ultimate birth control, abstinence.  In cases where this choice was removed (incest/rape) I think that the male should be punished SEVERLY.  But again, and I do feel soooo bad for women that have this happen to them, don't see that as an excuse for murder.

The argument is that women should have a choice, and in the vast majority of the 1.2 million abortions in 2004 they had a choice.  They chose to have unprotected sex.  So lets give some margin for contraceptive failure, can't imagine that would be more then 2%, but lets say its 10%... you still have 1.08 million abortions for no reason other then its inconvenience.  1.08 million babies killed because a women didn't choose to abstain or use protection.

Now let me touch on one side of this argument... the Catholic church messes this up big time.  They are pro-life, but they are also anti-contraceptive... one of the worst stances I've ever seen.

Now this is just the United States:

Abortions since 1973: 48,589,993.

Peak Abortion year: 1990 with 1.6 million.

Latest Year on record: 2004 with 1.2 million.

So while the numbers are horrifying, they are improving.  Latest year numbers are the lowest since 1976, and when you consider the population difference that is amazing.

Now I will warn, this gets awful.    Just awful.  You will see remains of aborted children if you watch this.  By far the worst video of the bunch so far.

If the doctors challenge was taken up, to show this to all women before abortions, there would be virtually none performed.

Abortion - The Silent Scream #1

**********************************************

Late January was a time to recognize the sanctity of life, so Focus on the Family took a week to recognize that fact.  They had a Doctor on that had done 75,000 abortions, but in the late 70's he and a colleague did a project which immediately made them both pro-life.

They decided to take sonogram's of the baby as abortions were being performed.  They released this video to the public, they wanted people to see what was happening to the child during an abortion.  During one abortion the child made a 'silent scream', basically appeared to be yelling in pain... but since there is no air in the uterus that was referred to as a silent scream.

So I am going to feature each vide here on my website, there are a total of 5.  Number one is 5 Minutes and 24 seconds.  Please take the time to watch these very moving, and very disturbing video's.

Video 1 is an introduction to the sonogram technology and what the series will consist of.
